St Johns County Sheriff’s Detective Samantha English has been busy rounding up burglars following a rash of break-ins to vehicles throughout the Northwest District of the county within the past several months. Historic City News received word of the re-arrest of one, and three additional arrests over the past few days.
One juvenile, who was arrested in late August on unrelated charges, was identified by investigators while they followed up on a tip concerning the location of some of the stolen property; primarily taken from un-locked vehicles parked in Fruit Cove, Julington Creek, and the other neighborhoods in the area.
“There is still property that we don’t know who owns, but was recovered over the course of this investigation,” Kevin Kelshaw told local reporters. “As the investigation continues, we are hopeful other victims will come forward to reclaim their stolen property.”
After detectives re-arrested 17-year-old David Michael Froess, Jr., of St Johns, they developed the identities of the three additional teenagers involved — 18-year-old Brandon Stephen Connell and 19-year-old Montgomery Sinclair McCaffrey, both of St Johns; and, 17-year-old Sean C Gwaltney of Jacksonville.
If you know more about any of these burglaries, the identities of those involved, the whereabouts of any other stolen property or you are the victim of a recent burglary that has not yet been reported, contact Crime Stoppers (888)277-8477 or Detective Samantha English (904) 209-3986.
