Historic City News readers will want to use extra caution as paving resumes tonight on the SR-16 resurfacing project from Green Acres Road, just east of I-95, to San Marco Avenue, according to an announcement from the Florida Department of Transportation.
Nighttime paving is scheduled from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. and will require lane closures. Daytime paving is also scheduled for this Thursday and Friday beginning at 7 a.m.
Along with resurfacing, this Florida Department of Transportation project also includes constructing a new sidewalk from Toms Road to Kenton Morrison Road and adding left turn lanes at Green Acres Road and Race Track Road.
Over the last three months, construction has primarily focused on adding and replacing drainage structures, repairing and building new sidewalks.
Lane closures are coordinated between the resurfacing and sidewalk construction to allow for one lane in each direction to remain open during construction.
The project is still on schedule to be completed by this fall.
