The St Johns County Chamber of Commerce and St Johns County School Board notified Historic City News that they have recognized seventy-six of the best and brightest local students — representing the top three percent of all graduating seniors in the county.
The annual Students Taking Academic Responsibility (STAR) Awards were presented on Wednesday, March 20, during ceremonies held at the World Golf Village Renaissance Resort.
During the recognition ceremony principals introduced each student and then a special mentor selected by the student. The STAR students shared their future plans and why they selected the teacher they chose to honor. In addition to making top grades, these students are involved in athletics, performing groups, school clubs and community service.
STAR Awards were sponsored by: Flagler Hospital, Wayne Hogan of Terrell Hogan, P.A., Bozard Ford, St Johns River State College, St Augustine Sunrise Rotary, VIP Presentation Products, St Johns County Education Foundation, Tour St Augustine and Crafts Trophies and Awards, Inc.
