Children’s FLYP Event: Magician Mark Alan
Tuesday, June 26 @ 10 am – Prepare to be amazed by the magic of Mark Alan! Don’t miss seeing our favorite magician for magic, humor, and more! Children of all ages are welcome. Please note – FLYP programs are geared toward the school-age child. This performance will be held at the Hastings Recreation Center gym at 400 E. Harris Street. Please wear rubber-soled shoes only. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
Book Club: Room by Emma Donoghue
Wednesday, June 27 @ 1 pm – Room is built on two intense constraints: the limited point of view of the narrator, a 5-year-old boy named Jack; and the confines of Jack’s physical world, an 11-by-11-foot room where he lives with his mother. We enter the book strongly implanted within these restrictions. We know only what Jack knows, and the drama is immediate, as is our sense of disorientation over why these characters are in this place. Join us for this book discussion along with light snacks and beverages.
