Lt Jeremy Robshaw reported to Historic City News that St Johns County Fire Rescue responded to residential structure fire in the Heritage Park subdivision of St Augustine at approximately 3:00 a.m. yesterday morning.
First arriving units completed a scene survey and reported smoke throughout the first floor of the home, Robshaw told reporters.
With assistance from St Augustine Fire Department Engine 42, those responding conducted a primary search of the home to ensure all occupants were evacuated, and then began an interior attack on the flames.
Units responding included Engine 12, Engine 14, Engine 4, Ladder 1, Tanker 4, Battalion 3, and Battalion 1. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to a first floor bedroom of the residence; located in the 200 block of Pine Arbor Drive.
Rescue 12 responded to the site and reported that there were no civilian or firefighter injuries during the incident.
According to Robshaw, the fire caused only minor damage in the room of origin and moderate smoke damage throughout the house. “It is anticipated that the residents that should be able to return to the home sometime Thursday.”
The fire was deemed under control in approximately 10 minutes.
Crews remained on the scene to overhaul the fire and remove smoke from the house.
An investigation of the cause of the fire is being conducted by St Johns County Fire Rescue.
