St. Johns County spokeswoman Karen Pan says that she is pleased to be able to announce the opening of another portion of County Road 244 to local reporters at Historic City News.
Beginning tomorrow, the two-mile section of road known as Longleaf Pine Parkway extends the existing roadway south of Bartram Trail High School to the realigned intersection of County Roads 210, 16-A, and 244.
“This extension will significantly enhance roadway capacity in northwest St. Johns County as well as much needed connectivity,” Pan said.
The four-lane divided roadway includes bike lanes, a multi-purpose path and a sidewalk.
According to Pan, the Rivertown Development constructed the roadway as part of its development obligation, although some portions of the construction were funded by St. Johns County.
