This morning, 23rd District Medical Examiner, Dr. Predag Bulic, published his preliminary autopsy report after examining the body discovered in the area of West Deep Creek in Flagler County, reported by Historic City News yesterday.
The post mortem examination positively confirmed the identity of the remains to be those of 67-year-old Barbara Parchem who has been missing from her Vermont Heights home for just over three weeks.
The manner of death was determined to be homicide and the cause of death is blunt force trauma, according to Dr. Bulic’s report.
St Johns County homicide detectives are coordinating with the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office and the State Attorney’s Homicide Investigative Unit as the investigation continues.
The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office will remain the lead agency on the case.
A person of interest in the case has been identified and detectives continue to question witnesses and examine evidence.
