Historic City News special event photographer, Raphael Cosme, attended the British Colonial Towne Meeting, Thursday, December 5th, at the Lewis Auditorium on the campus of Flagler College; a production of the Discover First America! Adventure Program.
Director of the St Augustine 450th Commemoration, Dana Ste. Claire, passed the microphone to Youth Ambassador Samantha Cosme; who introduced the other members of the 450th St Augustine Youth Ambassadors and their leaders, Nancy Birchall and Jeani Taliaferro.
During the presentation the British took over Lewis Auditorium at Flagler College to commemorate the 250th anniversary of British reign and the eve of St Augustine’s annual British Nightwatch.
Jesse Fish, a British Colonial entrepreneur and opportunist, kept the audience on its toes with his unique mannerisms and wit, followed by colonial dance and demonstrations.
The evening concluded with speaker Dr. Daniel Schafer, British Colonial scholar and professor emeritus at the University of North Florida, who recounted life and politics in British St Augustine.
This program was sponsored by Tour St Augustine and City Walks.
