For this month’s column I would like to reflect on a very important ceremony that occurred last month during national Law Enforcement Memorial Week. Last month the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Justice Complex was renamed and dedicated in honor of Sheriff Neil J Perry.



Historic City News reporters learned that a St Johns County jury convicted 28-year-old Joseph Darrell Daniels this evening, on charges of aggravated battery; a second-degree felony.
In the second published statement from an attorney in recent days regarding the incident involving 28-year-old Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Christopher Jones-Drew at the Conch House Reggae Sunday event on May 26, St Augustine Attorney Patrick Canan clarified that he will be protecting the interests of the security guard as a “victim of a crime”.
Northrop Grumman Corporation announced to Historic City News today the appointment of Christine McGlade as vice president of manufacturing operations and site manager for the company’s aircraft integration “Center of Excellence” in St Augustine.
In an interview with Patti Greenough this afternoon, Historic City News editor Michael Gold learned of plans to raise $1.65 million to purchase about 8,500 square-feet of clinical treatment facilities as part of an effort to bring a detoxification center to St Johns County.
Laurie Sanderson reported the following St Augustine and St Johns County locations to Historic City News where the Florida Department of Transportation will be conducting roadwork that is expected to have an impact on driving, beginning this morning and continuing through the coming week.
St Johns County School District Director of Community Relations, Christina Langston, reported to Historic City News that Randall Jud Strickland, chief of Elementary Schools for Duval County Public Schools, has been selected by Superintendent Dr Joseph Joyner to be the Principal of Cunningham Creek Elementary.
The identity of the security guard injured in the Memorial Day weekend incident involving Jacksonville Jaguars player Maurice Jones-Drew has been released by his Ponte Vedra Beach attorney, Gregory A. Anderson, in a prepared statement regarding his client.
