St. Augustine was the only place in Florida where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was arrested during the civil rights movement.
The City of St. Augustine informed local Historic City News reporters today that the previously announced public meeting soliciting input on the city’s harbor management plan has been rescheduled for Thursday, May 26th at 4:00 p.m. in the Alcazar Room of City Hall located at 75 King Street.

Historic City News local reporters have learned from St. Johns County Education Foundation spokesperson Alaina Cordes, that Jesse Martin, one of their Take Stock in Children scholarship recipients, was part of a winning team at the recent Student Television Network annual convention in Orlando.
Lindsey Phillips conveyed to local Historic City News reporters that the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument will be extending hours of operation to accommodate visitors to the fort throughout the summer.
