Guard recognizes 449 years of civilian service

At the appointed hour of 3:00 p.m., on Friday, September 12, the order was barked to bring members of the Florida National Guard to attention. Thus began the “Retreat” ceremony. Like a well oiled machine, guard members performed admirably giving credit to the memory of all who proceeded them.

Historic City News readers are invited to experience the Spanish heritage of St Augustine and the direct pathway into the past provided by 16th century Aviles Street; the oldest street in the nation. Admission for spectators is free of charge, so bring the whole family.




Laurie Sanderson reported the following St Augustine and St Johns County locations to Historic City News where the Florida Department of Transportation will be conducting roadwork that is expected to have an impact on driving, beginning this morning and continuing through the coming week.
