Historic City News was informed today that former U.S. Congresswoman Corrine Brown has been convicted by a federal jury in Jacksonville for her role in a conspiracy and fraud scheme involving a bogus non-profit organization, fraudulently passed off as a charity.
At its May 8th meeting, the St. Augustine City Commission introduced Historic City News reporters to a group of graduating seniors from St. Johns County High Schools; nominated by organizations from within their schools to be a recipient of an annual Citizenship Award.
The next ten St Augustine and St Johns County students, grades 1 thru 6, enrolling in Summer Art School at the St. Augustine Art Association may be eligible for a tuition scholarship of $25.00 according to Historic City News Editor in Chief, Michael Gold.
The president has fired FBI Director James Comey, who was overseeing an investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 elections and possible ties to the Trump campaign and top aides.
Veteran police chief Creig Doyle was recently named Flagler College’s director of Safety & Security, after serving in an interim director capacity at the college since January.

Effective immediately the Human Resources Division will report to the City Manager’s Office and the IT Division will report to the General Services Department. Additionally, in relation to daily operations all Departments will report to the Assistant City Manager.
The elimination of income tax and the Internal Revenue Service starts off the conversation during the next regular business meeting of the Saint Augustine Tea Party on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Looking back at the St Augustine Airport, it’s hard to imagine that the airport was closed for several years after serving a military function during World War II. It was reopened in 1955 and has grown to become a hugely important regional asset — much more than a place to land an airplane. Few other 668-acres in Florida have as intense a concentration of high-paying jobs and economic activity.
