I would like to respond to the letter published in Historic City News last week from former Republican Party of Florida chairman, Florida Senator John Thrasher, asking your readers to be informed about Common Core State Standards.

Historic City News has received scores of e-mail and comments, on historiccity.com and our facebook, from readers responding to an editorial we ran after the July 22nd meeting of the St Augustine City Commission, titled “Hold on to your wallets”.

At about 1:39 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, Historic City News reported a two-car collision on SR-16 in St Augustine that would have the roadway closed for the next 5 hours and traffic backed up in all directions even longer.

This afternoon, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement reported to Historic City News that their agency was receiving hundreds of phone calls from protest supporters claiming that Capitol Police members were denying them food.
Nursing facility resident found in marsh behind building
The St Augustine Police Department reported to Historic City News that 87-year-old David Mull, a resident of BayView Healthcare, apparently walked away the nursing facility this morning, and was not heard from until 4:00 p.m. — when he was located in the marsh behind The Pavilion at 161 Marine Street.
