A big crowd attended the celebration of the September 8, 1565 landing of Pedro Menendez de Aviles at the Mission Nombre de Dios.
Historic City News readers will recognize the name “Charles Ferdinand Hamblen” as a man who was as important to the construction of modern day St Augustine as Henry Morrison Flagler, David Paul Davis, or Dr Andrew Anderson, Jr, and the other investors and railroad tycoons of the 1800’s.
Michael Isam reported to Historic City News that when you meet 56-year-old St Johns County resident, Lynn Rothemund, you see a woman with more energy than a two-year-old freshly gorged on Halloween candy — you would never know she has cancer.
A 73-year-old St Augustine man is in custody this evening after St Johns County Sheriff’s detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest alleging capital sexual battery and second-degree felony charges of lewd and lascivious behavior against a child.
