Governor visits Flagler County
Historic City News was on hand this morning for a breakfast meeting hosted by the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce in Palm Coast featuring Governor Rick Scott and Florida Senator John Thrasher.

Tea Party governor welcomed by supporters
As Historic City News reporters met the man referred to by many around the state as “the Tea Party governor” a delegation from the Town Crier Committee of the St. Augustine Tea Party greeted the Governor and thanked him for his efforts to reduce the size and cost of Florida’s government.

Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown told a Transportation Club of Jacksonville luncheon today that the city’s port was “the economic engine” of the area’s economy; and, he met this afternoon with someone who agrees — Florida Governor Rick Scott.

Mother arrested after children and animals abused
Public Information Officer Debra Johnson told local reporters with Historic City News that a Florida Department of Children and Family Services investigator took custody of three children and had their 33 year-old mother arrested yesterday after she was charged with child abuse and animal cruelty.

Historic City News Editor Michael Gold recently read that the Brevard County Commission voted 4-1 to support re-naming the 45-mile barrier island from Port Canaveral to Sebastian Inlet for Ponce de Leon; supporting those who say the famed conquistador may have landed in Melbourne Beach in 1513 — not St. Augustine.
