Library Director Debra Rhodes Gibson and Anastasia Island Branch Library Branch Manager Susan Flynn have informed Historic City News that they are celebrating one year of service this month.

Jay Humphreys, Communications Director for the St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra & The Beaches Visitors and Convention Bureau, reported to Historic City News this morning that The St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park has been named one of the Nation’s “Seven Summer Learning Wonders†by Sylvan Learning.
Historic City News was reminded today by Penny Halyburton, St. Johns County Supervisor of Elections, that any registered St. Johns County voter may vote early by appearing at any of the Early Voting Sites listed below during the two weeks before Election Day.

In the first presidential election since 1928 without an incumbent president or vice president seeking the nomination, St. Johns County will have a strong presence at the 2008 Republican National Convention with three St. Johns County residences being chosen as delegates.

In accordance with Florida State Statute 775.21, this news release will serve as public notification that the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office has been given information that a person judged to be a sexual predator is now residing within St. Johns County.

The St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners has announced to Historic City News that the first public hearing to consider the Fiscal Year 2009 Recommended Budget is set for Tuesday, September 16 at 5:30 pm and the final public hearing and adoption of the Fiscal Year 2009 millage rate and budget is tentatively set for Tuesday, September 30 at 5:30 pm.

Yesterday, the Youth Services Unit of the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office worked together on a joint operation with the State Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco according to information received by Historic City News from Sheriff David B. Shoar.
