Call for public review of St George Street lease

400-FLORIDA-CRACKER-CAFEDuring Monday night’s meeting of the St Augustine City Commission, most of the public comment was focused on either the Markland Place demolition permit or the carriage operator licenses. But, Ed Slavin, a familiar face at the meetings, used his three-minute opportunity to address the upcoming renewal of a lease on City property that he says is being done with a wink and a nod, and for good reason.

State of the Arts grants awarded

Historic City News has learned that, again the year, St Johns County residents purchasing Florida, “State of the Arts” license plates have helped fund micro-grants for artistic and cultural projects by non-profit groups, schools, and individual artists.  This year’s grants were officially distributed by pastor of Ancient City Baptist Church, Dr. David Rice; who currently serves as president of the Board of Directors of the St Johns Cultural Council.
