Governor appoints Brunson to fill Mercer’s term
Historic City News was informed this evening that Florida Governor Rick Scott has appointed 77-year-old Randy Brunson to the Board of the St Augustine and St Johns County Airport Authority. He is appointed for a term beginning June 2, 2014, and ending November 11, 2014.
7-Eleven stores across nation put up for sale
Despite an ongoing battle reported by Historic City News to build a new 7-Eleven store on San Marco Avenue across the street from Davenport Park, in Texas today, the company announced that they have retained NRC Realty & Capital Advisors LLC to coordinate the sale of 75 gasoline stations and convenience stores.
St Johns County Medical Alliance Scholars 2014
Historic City News citizen correspondent Jeani Taliaferro reported that the St Johns County Medical Alliance has awarded five new academic scholarships to local high school graduates pursuing their education in a medical related field of study.
Alcazar Building repairs are underway
Historic City News has learned that the first of a two-stage repair project began recently at the former Alcazar Hotel Building which houses the Lightner Museum and St Augustine City Hall. Work is expected to continue through November.
Southbound Interstate-95 still partially closed
Historic City News received a noon update from Florida Highway Patrol spokesman, Sergeant Dillon Bryan, alerting our readers that crash and homicide investigators are still on the scene of last night’s collision on southbound I-95 at mile marker 288.

At least one dead in multi-vehicle crash and fire
Fire Rescue apparatus is still on the scene of a multi-vehicle accident at the 300 mile-marker of I-95, southbound, in St Johns County; according to the most recent update received by Historic City News from St Johns County Fire Rescue.
