We are down to the wire for this year’s Primary Election, with early voting opening on Saturday morning, August 20th. Candidates are still out working on their campaigns, placing signs, walking neighborhoods, holding meet-and-greet events, and making certain that voters know why they are the best choice for their intended office.




Tuesday morning, August 9th, Historic City News was informed by a passing reader that St Augustine police had cordoned off the Mark Lance Armory, located at 190 San Marco Avenue. Originally reported as a burglary, it was later determined that an attempted arson had occurred.


This week, local Supervisor of Elections, Vicky Oakes, a member of the board of directors of Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections, forwarded an open letter to Historic City News certifying the security of the state’s voting systems.
