In St Augustine, the statewide group, “Save Their Honor” is seeking descendants of the 44 local soldiers whose names are inscribed on the Plaza de la Constitution Confederate War Memorial as part of a program to help protect the memorial honoring their family members.

When the Alcazar Hotel opened in 1888, it became a more distinguished hotel than was expected. Henry Morrison Flagler wrote at the time that the Alcazar Hotel was “every bit as great” as the Ponce De Leon.
From July 17th through September 20th, world-renowned local artist Harry McCormick will exhibit a collection of art titled “In the Mood” at the County Administration Building, located at 500 San Sebastian View in St Augustine.
Historic City News was notified by Florida Department of Transportation Public Information Officer, Monica R. Reifeiss, that traffic will be impacted at the following St Augustine and St Johns County locations where roadwork is being conducted.
Be alert to lane closures and temporary detours, as well as increased congestion in these areas. FDOT employees and contractors will be working on the roadways and need your full attention.

Hannah and Al Aldrich informed Historic City News that, following a meeting between the founding members of Vilano Action Network and the board of directors of North Shores Improvement Association, an agreement has been reached for an affiliation that will allow the Vilano Action Network to tap into the knowledge, experience and connections of the nearly 80-year-old North Shores organization.
