Kingfish Challenge this weekend
St. Augustine Visitors and Convention Bureau Communications Director Jay Humphreys informed St. Johns County entertainment reporters at Historic City News that Friday is the Junior Kingfish Challenge as well as tournament registration and Captain’s Meeting for this weekend’s challenge –fishing days are Saturday and Sunday.





Animal Control Division Chief Paul Studivant explained to local Historic City News reporters that the St. Johns County Animal Control Pet Center has been “inundated” with pets the owners can’t afford.
Lance Thate informed local Historic City News reporters that a group of re-enactors took to the streets of downtown St. Augustine to celebrate Independence Day by circulating copies of the United States Constitution.


The Castillo de San Marcos is St. Augustine’s most identifiable national monument; however, Historic City News reminds you that we have a second fort in our area — the Fort Matanzas National Monument located on A1A at the south end of Anastasia Island.
The City of St. Augustine estimates for Historic City News that about 100,000 people were watching from downtown, the grounds of the Mission Nombre de Dios, and Vilano Beach when “Fireworks over the Matanzas” lit up the sky over the historic city last night.
The St. Johns County Public Library System is teaming up with the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants to offer the Teen Financial Literacy series according to an announcement received by Historic City News from public information spokesman Rob Weber.
