Florida is one of the minority states that pays elected school board members handsomely, in St Johns County, the base pay is $35,501 plus benefits.
In a letter obtained by Historic City News today, an African-American documentary filmmaker, author, historian, and Leadership St Johns graduate, wrote to St Augustine City Commissioner Todd Neville; calling him out over his accounting of local Black soldiers during the Civil War. At issue is Neville’s tacit support for removal of the confederate memorial that stands in the Plaza de la Constitution.

Dear Historic City News editor:
I am sick and tired of this same old song and dance about Confederate monuments being offensive. Ron Rawls is reading Morris Dee’s script and I want him and all his cronies to take a lie detector test to prove they’re offended.

My support of the Confederate burial memorials is based on my belief in the holy scriptures.

Dear Historic City News Editor:
It is with great dismay that I am forced to observe this inevitable “march to disown history” and to sully the memories of our ancestors in St Augustine on Saturday evening. It is clearly a misguided (and ultimately fruitless) mission to create discord where none exists.
Letter: How DR Horton treats their buyers after closing
Roger D. Carman Jr.
St Augustine, FL
Dear Historic City News editor:
D.R. Horton Home Builders built our home and it was completed in February 2016. We closed on the home on February 29th, 2016, and have experienced more problems and issues than anyone should EVER have to face when purchasing a new home.
