St Augustine is a city where history is all around us — centuries of it; from the time of the discovery of La Florida in 1513, the settlement of our city in 1565, through domestic wars, and wars of conscience, led by those who have participated, both as good citizen-soldiers, as well as elected government officials.

There is a word that defines someone who tries to get an advantage for themselves from a situation without thinking about what is right — that person is referred to as an “opportunist”. The word is often used to describe politicians, and it is not considered a desirable trait.
Not a lot of news to report today, lots was happening — but most of the activity was around a dinner table, surrounded by family and friends, two and four-legged, shaved or furry, we accept each other, “warts and all” as my mother once told me.
