City of St. Augustine Deputy Director of Public Works, Todd Grant, announced to Historic City News today that travel along Riberia Street, from King Street to Bridge Street, would resume Friday evening.

Originally not expected to be finished before April 2012, the Florida Department of Transportation reported to Historic City News that this week a new seawall running along SR-A1A north of the Flagler County line to Summer Haven has been completed — months ahead of schedule.

St Johns County Fire Rescue told Historic City News that firefighters responded to a reported residential structure fire in the 2000 block of Joe Ashton Rd at approximately 6:30 a.m. this morning.

Administrative Support Assistant Laura Cryan announced to Historic City News reporters that in less than two weeks since boat service to Fort Matanzas National Monument was suspended, all mechanical problems have been corrected and the ferryboat has resumed service.

Historic City News reporters in St Augustine recall that Betty Grable, who would have turned 95 today, was performing in Born Yesterday at the Alhambra Dinner Theatre on Beach Boulevard in Jacksonville less than a year before her death in 1973.

Historic City News reporters learned from Florida Veterans Programs and Projects, Inc., representative Gary Bruce, that at 1:00 p.m. today, the keys to 254 Honey Branch Lane in St Augustine were officially turned over to USMC Corporal Tyler Southern and his wife Ashley.
