In conjunction with a fair housing study, required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and a condition for receiving Federal housing and community development funds, St Johns County is hosting two public meetings for residents to provide feedback.

In St Johns County, thousands of voters headed to the polls beginning at 8:00 a.m. this morning; and, with little exception, continued steadily until the doors closed at 6:00 p.m. According to Supervisor of Elections Vicky Oakes, over 6,800 voters cast their ballot in the first day of Early Voting in the 2018 General Election.

Despite her attempt to stop the St Augustine City Commission from advancing proposed Ordinance 2018-16 to a second reading and public hearing, Nancy Sikes-Kline, a candidate for re-election after 8-years of filling a chair, failed to get the required three votes and the ordinance will be heard at the next commission meeting, November 5, 2018.

Florida State Representative Cyndi Stevenson announced to Historic City News today that the St Johns County Legislative Delegation will hold a meeting on Friday, December 7, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the St. Johns County Commission Auditorium located at 500 San Sebastian View, in St Augustine

St Johns County Supervisor of Elections Vicky Oakes reported the following voter information to Historic City News today; reminding our readers of important upcoming dates in the November 6th General Election cycle.

After a year of doing nothing, at their regular meeting Monday night, October 22nd, the Commission of the City of St Augustine will be presented a proposed repeal and replacement of Chapter 22, Article I, Section 22-4 of the City Charter. If approved, it will govern how the city will regulate events, protests and counter-protests; allowing them to co-exist in the Plaza de la Constitucion and city commons.
