Last week, Historic City News was informed that a Florida Senate bill (SB 406 by Senator Bradley), was passed unanimously by the Senate Health Policy committee after it underwent substantial amendment.
In a 29-page joint pretrial stipulation obtained by Historic City News from the Circuit Court for the Seventh Judicial Circuit, local voters get a glimpse of the degree of corruption involved in electing a sheriff in neighboring Putnam County.
After about three and a half hours of presentations, public comments, debate and discussion, the St Augustine Planning and Zoning Board, in a split decision, voted 4-2 Tuesday to deny an application by local hotelier Kanti Patel to rezone the former Barnacle Bill’s property from HP-5 to PUD to be used as hotel parking.
Hours were spent Monday evening deliberating over the three minutes taken by the public to air their support or grievances with a broad spectrum of activity conducted by the local government of about 6,500 St Johns County residents.

The rezoning of the current Barnacle Bills Restaurant on West Castillo Drive from Historic Preservation-5 (HP-5) to Planned Unit Development (PUD) for San Marco Hotel valet parking is on the City Planning and Zoning Board agenda for Tuesday, April 4th.
Historic City News has been following the controversy between the St. Augustine Beach Civic Association and St Johns County over the free use of the public parking lot at the St Augustine Beach pier.
All departments of the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners, St. Johns County Administrative offices, library branches, and the Pet Center will be closed Friday, April 14 in observance of Good Friday.
During the St Augustine City Commission regular meeting, members unanimously passed a resolution opposing legislation imposing significant new restrictions, phasing out existing and prohibiting the creation of new Community Redevelopment Agencies.
