City Fire Station to be collection point

Cathy DuPont updated the St. Augustine local news desk that in order to make it more convenient for St. Augustine residents to make donations for the victims of the recent earthquake in Haiti, the City of St. Augustine has designated its main fire station as a collection point for any donated items.

The Saint Johns Cultural Council reported to the St. Johns County local news desk that their non-profit organization is now holding the 2010 Membership Drive to help accomplish their mission of promoting St. Johns County as a premiere arts destination.

The Bartram Trail Branch Library reported to the St. Johns County local news desk that New York Times best-selling author Tim Dorsey will make an appearance on Saturday, February 6th.

Manuel must serve 21 months in prison

In the case of United States of America vs Thomas G. Manuel, the former St. Johns County Commission Chairman entered a guilty plea and today he received his sentence — 21 months in federal prison followed by 16 months of home detention.

New Visitors & Convention Bureau contract

Assistant County Attorney Regina Ross, will present Item 3 of Tuesday’s agenda before the County Commission which is a resolution approving the terms and condition of a new contract between the St. Johns County Visitors & Convention Bureau and St. Johns County Board of Commissioners.
