Farmhand arrested for molesting donkey

According to an arrest report filed by detectives with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, a 31-year-old Ocala man told law enforcement officers that Florida is a “backwards state” and that people “frown on zoophiles here” as he was being taken to jail; accused of having sex with a miniature female donkey.

Carlos R. Romero, a farmhand who resides at 9175 NW 60th Avenue in Ocala, was taken into custody last week after a witness observed him standing in a stall behind the animal with his shirt off and pants pulled down around his ankles. The witness stated that Romero appeared to be having sex with the donkey, which was in heat. When Romero spotted the witness, the affidavit states that Romero pulled up his pants and pushed the animal out of the stall.

In an interview with detectives before his arrest, Romero explained that the donkey goes into heat every 21-days and that he gets aroused watching animals mate. Romero described to the detectives how he likes the way the miniature donkey’s fur feels against his genitals. Although Romero claimed that he only fondled the donkey and masturbated, he admitted that there may have been some “accidental” contact or penetration of the animal as well as internal semen transfer.

Romero says that he has been with the donkey 5 or 6 times. He was released from custody on Tuesday after posting a $2,000 surety bond. His next court date is an arraignment hearing set for October 9 at 9:00 a.m. in Marion County.
