Last night, 54-year-old Shaune Lawrence reported that his house was being robbed; but, when deputies arrived at his Palm Coast home, Historic City News learned that they discovered an illegal marijuana cultivation operation at the residence.
Flagler County sheriff’s deputies responded to the home at 5 Fleming Court in Palm Coast at about 4:00 a.m. on New Year’s Eve.
Lawrence reported that his home been invaded by two men trying to rob him. Lawrence allowed deputies to search his home to locate the robbers; who were never found. Instead, according to the incident report, an elaborate setup with lights and chemicals, used for cultivating marijuana, was uncovered in a spare bedroom and bathroom.
During the search, a total of 110 marijuana plants were recovered in the active “grow rooms”. At full potential, these plants would have yielded 55 pounds of marijuana with a street value of $44,000.
The operation was dismantled by officers at the scene. Lawrence was taken into custody and is being held in lieu of $5,000 bond — charged with cultivating marijuana, possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
