Environmental Compliance Manager Tony Cubbedge informed local Historic City News reporters that the St Johns County Utility Department has issued a precautionary “Boil Water Notice” in Ponte Vedra Beach.
A water main break occurred in the area impacting an estimated 120 residences. Crews are on-site repairing the lines at this time. Signs are posted along 7 Mile Drive where the Boil Water Notice is in effect.
The areas affected include the following streets in the 7 Mile Drive subdivision:
8101- 8313 7 Mile Drive
115-132 Stadium Court
100-120 7 Iron Court
As a precautionary, all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth or washing dishes should be boiled first. A rolling boil of one minute is sufficient. As an alternative bottled water should be used.
The notice remains in effect until lab tests show that the water is safe to drink and a retraction notice is posted, which is typically a minimum of two days.
Citizens may call our Boil Water Notice Hotline at (904) 209-2731 for updated information.
Signs will be posted once the notice is rescinded, Cubbedge said.
