Will Nassau take our landfill waste?

For the past three years, there has been an ongoing dispute between the City of St. Augustine, the state Department of Environmental Protection and some local activists — with Ed Slavin as well as Tony and Judith Seraphin at the forefront.
Slavin, who is sometimes credited with uncovering the violation of state Department of Environmental Protection rules, maintains his own blog, critical of the City’s actions at this link.
Library Extension Service brings Bookmobile

Beginning in April, the Bookmobile will bring library materials and programming to the World Golf Village and Palencia areas.
Every other Monday beginning April 7th the Bookmobile will be in the Publix shopping center off International Golf Parkway from 9 am to noon. Also, beginning April 9th, the Bookmobile will be available at the Palencia amenities center every other Wednesday from 2:30 to 5 pm.
Pet Adoption Event scheduled

The St. Johns County Division of Animal Control announced that a Pet Adoption Event is scheduled for April 19 at the Starbucks on County Road 210.
The Sertoma Club Thrift Shop off U.S. 1 South will donate all its proceeds from April 27 to the Pet Center.
Avenue “D” nears completion

Won’t be long now.
The finishing touches are being completed to Avenue “D” Extension at it’s new intersection with U.S. 1 North; across from the Madeira sales office.
Big brother: Traffic Cameras
I’ve read several articles and witnessed the installation of traffic cameras in surrounding areas and have to wonder if traffic surveillance cameras are not inevitable in our future.
Last week, red light cameras were activated at six heavily trafficked Palm Coast intersections.

Suspense over: Walgreens construction begins

For some time now there has been suspicion and rumor about the long vacant Mariotti Auto Laundry which seemed to have opened and closed just as quickly.
The building located at 2801 N Ponce de Leon Blvd. and the vacant shopping center located behind the building (that at one time housed a Lil’ Champ convenience store) are both owned by Deerfield, IL pharmacy behemoth Walgreens.
