On Saturday November 19th, Special Events and Volunteer Coordinator Karen Lundquist encourages interested Historic City News readers to join the “Krewe of the 13” during the Tomoka River Pirate Raft Race to benefit St Francis House shelter.
During presidential election years it is hard to miss the agenda being advanced by the each of the two major political parties. But, at least in municipal elections where the races are predominantly non-partisan, the party affiliation of a candidate has traditionally meant very little.

On October 25, 2016, the St. Augustine Tea Party (SATP) held its first ever Candidate Forum in its six-year history. The Forum was well attended. The Tea Party focused on the Commissioner’s Race in the City of St. Augustine Beach. Candidates, Andrea Samuels and Rich O’Brien, incumbents and challengers Maggie Kostka and Rosetta Bailey were invited participants along with the general public.
