Designer suggests new parking facilities downtown
Consultant Jeremy Marquis of Marquis-Halback Design suggested to the St Augustine City Commission Monday night that they consider a deck of underground parking beneath Francis Field; one of several proposals proffered as part of a plan for a federally-funded program to improve traffic flow to connect the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument to the remainder of St Augustine.
Labor Day holiday hours
All departments of the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners, St. Johns County Administrative offices, branches of the Public Library, and the Pet Center will be closed Monday, Sept. 2, in observance of Labor Day. All offices will resume standard business hours on Tuesday, September 3rd.
Lifeguards man towers through Labor Day
Lieutenant Jeremy Robshaw announced to Historic City News that as of Tuesday, September 3, St Johns County Fire Rescue will be decreasing lifeguard staffing levels on all St Johns County beaches.
City identifies streets to be closed and restricted
Historic City News readers are aware that the Gentlemen of the Road Stopover, featuring Mumford and Sons, will necessitate traffic restrictions in the downtown area that includes street closures and limited access areas.
Spanish Bakery to reopen on St George Street
Following a two month project of refurbishing the kitchen, Historic City News was informed that the Spanish Bakery, located at 42-1/2 St George Street is scheduled to re-open its doors on Thursday, September 12th.
