$10,000 may be price-tag of Young memorial

With both the mayor and vice-mayor absent, Historic City News observed as acting chairman Errol Jones advanced a motion authorizing the City Manager to move ahead with plans to install a memorial to Andrew Young and to spend up to $10,000 to do it.

Three juveniles sent to hospital after ATV crash

Chuck Mulligan reported to Historic City News that crash investigators from the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit responded to an ATV crash on Carter Rd off of CR-214 Monday afternoon.

No action taken by city on carriage ordinance

Historic City News observed the regular meeting of the city commission tonight convened at 5:00 p.m., however, two of the five member board were absent — former Vice Mayor Errol Jones acted as chair.

Chris Benjamin announced to Historic City News that St. Johns County Solid Waste Management will host a Community Collection Day this Saturday, April 2nd, from 8:00 am until noon at the St. Johns Greyhound Park.

Witnesses sought in attempted theft of ATM

Community Affairs Officer Barbara Stevens reported to Historic City News that on two separate occasions last week, the St. Augustine Police Department was called to businesses where thieves attempted to steal an automated teller machine.
