Castillo holds Regatta of Lights Boat Parade party
Historic City News readers are invited to attend on Saturday evening, December 14th, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m., when a ceremonial cannon firing from the deck of the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument will start St Augustine’s Holiday Regatta of Lights Boat Parade in the Matanzas Bay.





St Augustine: Rape of the Ancient City
Lt Jeremy Robshaw reported to Historic City News this morning that selections have been made to be recognized as this year’s Firefighter and Paramedic of the Year; selected from members of St Johns County Fire Rescue department, based on peer nominations, and decided by an appointed awards committee.
At 10:33 a.m. this morning, it became official — Ron Sanchez filed the proper candidate statement, and appointed himself to be his own campaign treasurer, in his bid for re-election to the District 2 seat on the St Johns County Commission.
The City of St Augustine Police Department informed local Historic City News reporters of their activity over the weekend, including the arrest of a 48-year-old St Johns County man, who gave his residence address as 243 East Circle Drive in St Augustine, but remains in county jail today in lieu of $1,000 bond. St Augustine police located and arrested David Wayne Kennedy on a St Johns County warrant for failing to pay child support.

Gwendolyn Duncan tells Historic City News that this weekend’s “spruce up” of the historic Rudcarlie Building, located at 79 Bridge Street in Lincolnville, was such a huge success that another day of work to help rejuvenate the landmark property is already being planned.
