Richard Goldman, executive director of the St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra & the Beaches Visitors & Convention Bureau, informed local reporters at Historic City News that, as part of a Tourism State of the Union Address, the top eleven tourism employees in St. Johns County were honored today.

Historic City News confirmed with the Florida Department of Transportation this morning that they intend to remove and replace the bridge on US-1, just north of King Street, and the City is hoping that the construction and detour will be over on time.

Forty-seven years ago, on June 9, 1964, Andrew Jackson Young, Jr., tried, unsuccessfully, to cross through a hostile mob of segregationists as he led a group of peaceful Civil Rights demonstrators east on King Street towards the Plaza.
