I just received a notice from the Florida Power & Light Company advising me that they will be installing a “Smart Meter” on my home in a few weeks.
Millions of dollars of private funds, and government tax dollars, are spent each year in search of the Holy Grail that will deliver the prosperity that comes from economic development in St Augustine and St Johns County — something every politician is promising but few will admit what will have to happen first.

Residents – and motorists – continue a battle opposing plans for a 7-Eleven store and gas station at the already congested May Street-San Marco Avenue intersection in St Augustine’s north city.
One need go no further than last night’s meeting of the St Augustine City Commission to see the epic failure and misuse of a parliamentary procedure designed to formalize and move along administrative matters of business during government meetings.
The lunatics are running the asylum and the citizens of St Johns County should not stand for it one single, solitary day longer.
At today’s county commission meeting, I observed, once again, some of the most egregious examples of incompetence in office that I care to witness — and there is not one good reason for it.
