It has been nearly 46 years since a hurricane struck the first coast directly from the east and that hurricane, Hurricane Dora, has been the only one to strike from the east since records have been kept dating back to 1851.

You don’t have to drive in St. Augustine traffic too long before you encounter someone stopped at a green light, driving 20 mph in mid-day traffic along Ponce de Leon Boulevard, or, my personal favorite, riding side-by-side at the same speed as the adjacent driver — effectively blocking both traffic lanes.

On Sunday May 30th about 7:30-8:00 a.m., I walked out on the beach in front of the Ocean Blue Motel and set up 2 surf rods like I have done several times before over the past 10 years.

The St. Johns County Commission enacted a new Alarm Ordinance that went into effect in early April of this year. There were several reasons for this ordinance that I would like to tell you about this month as well as information concerning this ordinance.
Well … here we are, yet another Memorial Day.

With more attention than ever on St. Johns County finances, we expect county staff to be scrutinizing every expense.
