Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller Hunter S. Conrad, Esq. announced a special Saturday passport event for Historic City News readers; set for March 17th, 2018 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Richard O. Watson Judicial Center, 4010 Lewis Speedway, Building A, in St. Augustine.

The Executive Office of Governor Rick Scott reported to Historic City News this morning that lifelong St. Johns County resident and former chairman of the St Johns County Board of County Commissioners, Allan B Roberts, has been appointed to the Governing Board of the St. Johns River Water Management District.

The findings of fact, conclusions of law, and recommendations to the Florida Supreme Court, alleging violations of the Code of Judicial Conduct and Florida Constitution by Honorable Scott C. DuPont, Circuit Judge for the 7th Judicial Circuit, were filed after our close of business Thursday February 15, 2018 and obtained by Historic City News on Friday morning.

Daylight-saving time will start March 11 this year and end November 4; but, what if we didn’t have to keep changing back-and-forth each year and got to enjoy more daylight after work all year long?

Senator Travis Hutson informed local Historic City News reporters that the following actions were taken during the week of February 5th – 9th in the Florida Senate.

Reporting in Historic City News was mentioned by several speakers during yesterday morning’s meeting of the St Johns County Commission. Our article preceding the meeting, and individual e-mail copies sent to the chairman and commissioners, resulted in the $10,000 funding request, by Sheriff David Shoar, being taken off the “fast track” consent agenda and modified to bring the requested action into compliance with state law.

The Confederate Memorial Contextualization Advisory Committee will hold its inaugural meeting on Wednesday, February 7th.  Historic City News readers and the public are invited to attend in The Alcazar Room of the St Augustine City Hall, located at 75 King Street.
