Historic City News was informed that City offices will close in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday, January 16th, per an announcement from Public Affairs Director, Paul Williamson.
All departments of the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners, St. Johns County Administrative offices, St. Johns County libraries, and the Pet Center will be closed Monday, January 16th in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, per an announcement from Director of Communications Michael Ryan, received by Historic City News today.
David B. Corneal, the controversial developer whose high-pressure antics, and convenient promises led four of St Augustine’s city commissioners to approve a PUD for the Dow Museum of Historic Homes, was again escalated to the spotlight; this time when Historic City News reader Christina Emerick contacted public officials and other residents about representations on the developer’s pre-opening website.

Rick Staly was sworn in today as Flagler County’s 18th sheriff before the Honorable Senior Judge Emerson R. Thompson Jr., during a special ceremony at the Sheriff’s Operations Center, while, earlier this week, Sheriff David Shoar was sworn in for his fourth consecutive term as St. Johns County’s Sheriff, before the Honorable Judge Charles Tinlin.

The Planning and Zoning Board of the City of St Augustine continued the request of Kanti Patel to rezone parcels from current zoning designation of Historic Preservation-5 (HP-5) to Planned Unit Development (PUD) until its meeting on February 7th.
