Tomorrow, on Sunday March 12th, limited seasonal lifeguard coverage will commence on St Johns County’s public beaches.

Friday night at about 11:00 p.m., Historic City News was alerted to a propane fire that ignited behind a business on Granada Street in downtown St Augustine.

A swim advisory has been issued for Vilano Beach based on the criteria for fecal indicator bacteria. The beach water samples are analyzed for enteric bacteria (enterococci) that normally inhabit the intestinal tract of humans and animals and which may indicate increased risk of human disease, infections, or rashes.

During a week that included a rash of shooting deaths, it is possible that Thursday night’s shooting at an Arricola Avenue apartment on Davis Shores was justifiable.

St Augustine Police Department Public Information Officer, Mark Samson, has been updating Historic City News reporters as information is slowly being released from the scene of a domestic shooting that has left one man dead.

Historic City News local reporters were informed that the man who was identified to deputies yesterday as the person who committed sexual battery on a minor child, remains in custody today in lieu of $25,000 bond.

After the completion of an autopsy earlier today, Historic City News was informed that the body discovered on Los Robles Avenue by police Tuesday morning was 56-year-old James Henry Weaver of St Augustine.

Historic City News cannot yet confirm the connection, if any, between yesterday’s reported traffic homicide of 55-year-old Steven Michael Canard of St Augustine, and another body deputies discovered today.
