Celebrate Florida Archaeology Month 2009

Historic City News has been asked to invite our readers to join City Archaeologist Carl Halbirt and Assistant Archaeologist Melissa Dezendorf as they celebrate Florida Archaeology Month 2009 at the VIC on the last three Fridays in March.

Local archaeologists to speak at meeting

The St. Augustine Archaeological Association will commemorate Florida Archeology Month by presenting three local archaeologists speaking about recent projects in St. Johns County according to an announcement received by Historic City News today.

Okaloosa County Sheriff removed from office

Historic City News has been informed that Sheriff Charles W. Morris has been removed from office by executive order of the Governor today following the issuance of an arrest warrant by the US District Court for the Northern District of Florida on February 25th.

Marine auction at Yacht Club

Sacha Martin reported to Historic City News today that there will be a countywide marine auction Saturday, March 7th beginning at noon at the St. Augustine Yacht Club located at the lighthouse park.

Programming Coordinator Joy D’Elia reported to Historic City News today that the St. Johns Cultural Council has elected two new officers.

Drug and weapons charges land man in jail

Kevin Kelshaw reported to Historic City News this afternoon that a 43-year old St. Johns County man was arrested on several charges following the execution of a search warrant at his home early Wednesday evening.
