City police deploy new patrol and rescue unit

The City of St. Augustine reported to Historic City News that the city police department has outfitted a new, powerful patrol and rescue boat – courtesy of criminals.

Driver seriously injured answering cell phone

The St Johns County Sheriff’s Office reported to Historic City News that a Hastings woman has suffered serious injuries after being ejected from her vehicle and that she has been flown by TraumaOne to Shands Hospital – Jacksonville.

Wendy Thomson, project manager for the Friends of A1A Scenic & Historic Coastal Byway, reported to Historic City News that they need beach clean-up volunteers.

Augustin Martinez charged in sex crime

A 27-year old St. Johns County man was arrested yesterday on a charge of sexual activity with a child under the age of 18 according to a report to Historic City News from SJSO Media Relations Officer Kevin Kelshaw.

Morris Publishing Group, LLC, publisher of The St. Augustine Record and Florida Times Union, gave an ultimatum to holders of their non-performing Senior Subordinated Notes — accept $100 million in second lien secured notes due in 2014 or Morris is going to bankruptcy court.

Registered sex offender arrested again

St. Augustine Police said 55-year old Robert John Judy attacked a woman in the street and tried to force her to have sex.
