Police catch driver who fled after crash into San Marco Avenue antique store

Historic City News learned that at about 3:00 a.m. this morning, a late model Toyota Venza crashed into a San Marco Avenue antique shop causing extensive damage.  No injuries were reported, according to televised news accounts.

Everything promised in the $3.5 million Florida Department of Transportation project to revamp the intersection at May Street and north San Marco Avenue has not been delivered — starting with a missed completion date, originally expected in late 2019.

St Johns County Director of Communications, Michael Ryan, reported to Historic City News today that the ocean and fishing pier will be closed beginning on Monday, January 6th.  Repairs and rehabilitation are expected to continue through May 2020.

Florida minimum wage now $8.56 per hour outpacing federal minimum by $1.30

The State of Florida passed a constitutional amendment, reported by Historic City News in 2004, that set the minimum wage paid locally above that required by federal law.  The minimum wage in Florida is adjusted annually to keep pace with inflation.
