Letter: Bequette motive a mystery

In following the Anastasia Mosquito Control District race for Seat 3, I cannot help but notice that Janice Bequette has spent almost $14,000 in her race.
Community Affairs officer Corporal Catherine Payne reported to Historic City News that a man, stopped by deputies in the early morning hours yesterday for a minor traffic violation is in jail today in lieu of $175,000 bond and facing four felony charges along with five added misdemeanor charges.
Letter: You can opt out of smart meters

Dear Editor:
I wanted to respond to a recent letter from a Historic City News reader who expressed concerns about the new “smart meter” from Florida Power and Light.
Historic City News photographer Mark Cubbedge was at the St Augustine Amphitheatre last night when sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson performed some of their best loved hits that earned their group, Heart, worldwide recognition.
Had the incident happened at any time McDonald’s lobby had been opened, the outcome would most certainly have been worse; managers told Historic City News this morning, after a St Augustine woman crashed into their building.
After a one-day break since Tuesday, two dozen volunteers and staff members resumed the task of scanning thousands of mail and absentee ballots this morning, as the three-member canvassing board convened to individually inspect damaged ballots in an effort to see that every vote counts.
Following the General Election on Tuesday, November 6, Ken Bryan and Mark Miner will be officially replaced in District 5 and District 3, while sitting District 1 Commissioner, Cyndi Stevenson, will likely win re-election; all three winners start new, four-year terms November 20.
