Historic City News readers have been invited by Father Tom Willis, the rector of the Cathedral Basilica of St Augustine, to celebrate “Compline by Candlelight” on Saturday, November 17 at 8:30 p.m. as part of the “Nights of Lights” festivities.
Visiting jogger struck by vehicle this morning
Community Affairs officer, Corporal Catherine Payne, informed Historic City News that this morning, the St Johns County Traffic Homicide Section responded to the scene of a car-vs-pedestrian crash; the victim remains hospitalized in serious, but stable, condition.

Ad Hoc historic preservation recommendations
Nine years ago, long before St Augustine and St Johns County property values hit the skids, or the rest of the general economy for that matter, Mayor George Gardner set out on an ambitious project to identify recommendations that could be presented to the City Commission regarding historic preservation — recently, sitting Commissioner Nancy Sikes-Kline, who served on the 2003 ad hoc committee, is trying to resurrect the recommendations.
St Augustine gays and lesbians may gain housing protection
A first reading of a proposed ordinance before the City Commission tomorrow evening; providing for inclusion of “sexual orientation” as a protected class, with regard to housing discrimination within the city limits of St Augustine.
