The Flagler County Sheriff’s Motor Unit reported to Historic City News that midway through the holiday weekend, they are continuing to conduct traffic enforcement operations at high crash locations to deter speeding and running red lights.
This holiday weekend got off to a bad start according to crash reports received by Historic City News on Sunday. The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office responded to two serious crashes on Saturday.
Solid waste collection schedule changed for December 25-26 only
Offices for the City of St. Augustine will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, December 25 and 26, and on Monday and Tuesday, December 31 and January 1, in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays.
Earlier this month, Historic City News Editorial Board volunteer, Daniel Holiday, was recognized by his Masonic family with a certificate and pin marking sixty-years of participation as a Free and Accepted Mason.

Carl Edward (Bud) Markel passed away December 19, 2018, with family members at his side. He was born in Hillsboro, Illinois on February 1, 1935.
The Florida Department of Transportation announced to local Historic City News reporters that they will spend an estimated $3 million dollars on the upcoming Crescent Beach Bridge (SR-206) rehabilitation project scheduled to begin in mid-January.
St. Augustine’s hotel business is good, and the man former Mayor George Gardner describes as “the city’s most successful hotelier” apparently believes that it can get better.
