Craig Funeral Home delivered to Historic City News this morning the report that Margaret “Peggy” Bassing Bailey, age 92, passed away peacefully in her home on November 17, 2018. She joins her beloved husband and father to her five children John Denver Bailey, Sr. who died just three months earlier. Peggy and John were devoted to one another, and her surviving family members take comfort knowing they are together again in Heaven.

Carrie Johnson was called “the voice of Lincolnville” in part because her voice rang out loud and clear and she loved to sing, speak, and pray so all could hear. St Augustine’s most beloved citizen passed away at 7:00 a.m. this morning. She was 83 years old.

As of 11:10 a.m. Tuesday morning, Historic City News editor Michael Gold became aware that Raye Brutnell had surrendered to authorities at the Flagler County Jail in Bunnell. The defendant was answering a warrant for her arrest, alleging numerous crimes committed in the process of carrying out, then concealing, her theft of more than $700,000 of public funds over a period of several years.
