I’ve taken the last week to sort out my feelings about the response of the St. Augustine City Commission in unanimously voting August 24th to raise the city’s fire assessment fee.

As a Floridian, Canada offers freedom from the heat of summer during this time of year, and was the ideal location to celebrate my wife’s 50th birthday. Kevin Kelshaw reported to Historic City News that detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Robbery Homicide Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man found in a wooded area this morning.

Historic City News has learned that on September 3-5, St. Augustine, the Nation’s oldest city, will celebrate its 444th birthday with three full days of special events and activities.

Sallie O’Hara, Administrator of the Friends of A1A Scenic and Historic Coastal Byway, reported to Historic City News that she was recently a guest speaker at the National Scenic Byways Conference in Denver.
