Djibouti lies in northeast Africa on the Gulf of Aden at the southern entrance to the Red Sea and according to the bank’s staff here in St. Augustine, Colonial Bank doesn’t operate there.

Kevin Wiseman, project manager for the new county administration building, gave Historic City News and Media a “hard hat” tour of the construction progress on the new 105,000 square foot facility this morning and gave us a review of some of the thinking that went in to the design and planning for the project.

Prosperity Bank closes two branches

In an announcement from Chris Kamienski, Executive Vice President and North Region Market President for Prosperity Bank, Historic City News and Media was advised that effective Friday, August 15th at 5:00 p.m., the Ponte Vedra Banking Center and the Jacksonville Beach Banking Center will close permanently.

Household hazardous waste collection day

Community collection days
St. Johns County Solid Waste Management will host a Community Collection Day on Saturday, May 17, from 8:00 a.m. until noon according to a media advisory from Karen Pan received yesterday afternoon.

The Office of Public Affairs advised Historic City News that the event will occur at Bartram Trail High School, located at 7399 Longleaf Pine Parkway in St. Johns.

Surveillance video helps identify vandals

Three St. Johns County teenagers are facing felony charges in connection with the vandalism at two northwest churches earlier this week according to a media release provided to Historic City News by St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office Media Relations Officer Kevin Kelshaw.

The three juveniles, each only 16-years old, face three counts of criminal mischief to a church and one count each of disturbing a grave or burial site. Both of those charges are third degree felonies. Two of the suspects also face a misdemeanor count of criminal mischief to a vehicle.

St. Johns Golf Club to offer free lessons

Program is part of PGA Free Lesson Month

PGA Professionals Wes Tucker and Tom Stecker of St. Johns Golf Club in Elkton, Florida, will offer free 10-minute golf lessons on Saturday, May 17 from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. as part of PGA Free Lesson Month according to an announcement received by Historic City Media from the St. Johns County Office of Public Affairs.
